Today Jon finished the 2nd draft of The Kleptocatic Dream as well as mapping out the illustrations. We’re polishing it up for a final draft. Next phase is research and development. The first step, which has already begun, is compiling source images. Simultaneously we will work up story boards based on the source images as well as character and environment profiles.
“Far better is it to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs even though checkered by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much because they live in the gray twilight that knows neither victory nor defeat.”
This First Friday in September, Lydia will be showing her work alongside six other artists at the Hilliard Gallery. This exhibition is part of the KC+ Connect event series sponsored through KC Studio Magazine.
Lydia DeMonte will be displaying her most recent body of work. What sleeps in the woods is a photographic exploration of natural life cycles through the context of mythologies, utilizing feminine archetypes. The characters are inspired by ancient conceptions of women as agents of both life and death, personifications of eternity. This work responds to humanity’s attempts to control, define, and compartmentalize nature.
